Panasonic Minas A6 & Mesa compatability was created by Kimbletan
Hi, I am working on a CNC conversion for a small mill and am considering using Panasonic Minas A6 Multifunction drive/motors for the spindle & x,y,z axis driven by Linuxcnc/mesa combination. I looked in the forums for experience from other users, and I can see some reference to Ethercat, but other than that, not conclusive. I wasn't planning on using Ethercat, but does anyone have any guidance on Mesa boards (I'm thinking 5i25 & 5176 or 5i77) combinations that will work reliably with Minas A6? Any assistance appreciated. Thanks

I have no experience with those drives. But I suspect either of those options could work well. The 7i77 is a little more expensive, but if you want encoder feedback to Linuxcnc it would be the cheaper than a 7i76+another card for reading the encoders.
