Is it feasible to connect one PC to two (or more) machines (each fitted with a single 7i76E) via an ethernet switch.
There will only be one machine operational at any one time.

Yes, you can do this but expect that the overall read and write times will increase
slightly, since the switch not forward the packets until completely received.

Also not sure but you may also need to change the IP address of one the 7I76E cards to avoid confusing the switch.

Unfortunately it is only a single NIC Gigabyte Brix and I think the only ethernet addition is via a USB dongle.

Phil, if you have a look on Aliexpress/Alibaba, you will find some 2 NIC and 4 NIC J1900/ N3160 USFF PC's which should work fine with Mesa ethernet cards. PCW ages ago mentioned a 2 NIC Zotec PC but try as I might I could not find a source in Australia so went with a Brix.
