7i73 LCD interface defective was created by Mike_Eitel
Hi pcw
I had a severe incident run stepper DC through my Mesa combo.
Thx again for the 7i76e replacement.
I did a compete reconstruct to my hw. And have to solve the last problem now.
I know in the meanwhile that the current from my 80dc ( I'm quite sure minus) found the earthing point in the housing of my LCD....
Nevertheless the 7i73 seams to work, only I get no LCD working ( replaced by new one)
Is there a way to find out if the 7i73 is partial defective.
Thx in advance
Mike

Yeah, probably some of the I/O bits of the PIC are damaged
We test these with a loopback fixture and test program
You could try disabling the LCD (by setting the sserial mode) and see if the LCD output pins have sensible output levels since damaged pins may have bad (neither high or low) levels

OK, good idea.
will have to setup a test configuration for that.
I never did so fine pins, but if I replace the Pic.. Can I reprogram the chip?

You need to have (or borrow) a PIC programmer to do this

I ordered 4 chips and a programmer already.
I'm normally not in Pic, did quite some Avr's. But it is not bad to be a bit flexible and have some microchip knowledge too.
Is there somewhere a file to download and is it easy to transfer?
Thx Mike
