7i40 motor cable shield was created by billykid
hi, today I have placed the cables of my cnc and now the x axis has some disturbances .. I put an external cat 5e cable and rework everything well.
I would like to know the correct connection of the motor cable shield on the 7i40hv.
the 5 volts have the negative pole to ground, motor power 30 volts is floating.
I think they should be connected on the 2 gnd clamp and with a short piece of cable to the other 7i40 and to the chassis?
Thanks in advance
Mauro

Depending on the cause of the interference you may be able to eliminate it by setting the encoder filter a bit slower

Thanks Peter
filter is already set to true is there a way to set it differently? however I can make it work, it was to connect the shields of the motor cables as there are I did not want to leave them disconnected.
max encoder count rate is 320 khz.

Yes, in addition to enabling the filter you can set the encoder sampling clock frequency
the input digital filter times are in units of this sampling clock
( 3 clocks to be recognized with filter off and 15 clocks to be recognized with filter on )

sorry but the language does not help me.
I understood the behavior of filter true and false but it depends on the clock, in this case 5i23 pci 33mhz I think. I have to lower something but I do not understand where.

The pin will be something like
hm2_5i23.0.encoder.sample-frequency
hm2_5i23.0.encoder.sample-frequency
