Retrofit of Precix 5x10 CNC

There's an idea, mobile CNC outfit!

Yes, it's a tool changer.

Yep, Vacuum table with 4 sections.
Could use some new composite sections, but otherwise appears to be decent.

I wonder if the 7I92M +7I77 solution would work with the spindle ok?

All the motors are different: X / Z are same brand, Y appears to be different. I am not sure how compatible they are. When I retrofitted a Mill I found out they were 5 wire motors and very hard to work with other drives. Be nice to know if these drives would work or if I should look at getting some new drives.

Thanks for the reply pl7i92

Thanks for the 7192M+7i77 recommendation. Do you think that would be compatible with my drives/motors?

I am just guessing by looking at the motors/drives. To accurately determine the needed interface hardware
(and how to connect it), you will need to get the drive part numbers ( there appear to be two drive types )

the spindels may be your lowest problem
the Axis drivers may be first to be adviced at working
the 7i92 can do the stuff you need

can you unplug one of the Cards that are connected in the axis area and give us the numbers

I can't seem to find detailed info on the motors, I think I will remove them to get a better look at them.

I can kinda see the Z axis:
Magmotor C33-E-300 / C33-E-300FEB
The Y axis info isn't too helpful:
T31-22

I'll pull them and get a better look.
Would this info be helpful:

Encoder is a separate item, correct?

So the axis motors are simple DC brushed types, but the motor info is really inconsequential unless you are planning to replace the servo drives. What we really need to make a recommendation for your hardware are the Part/model numbers for the servo drives/amps that power the motors.

From what I can see the drive cards are in the computer therefore you wont have access to them with linuxcnc.

If that is the case then you have to search for drives that will accommodate those dc motors, or
buy the Chinese 80ST motor/drives for 192.00 US for 750 watt ac servo's, and be done with it. those drives are step/dir or velocity/torque +-10v, and encoder out to linuxcnc.

I have used them on several machines and never had an issue other than getting the correct settings, opening the loop and closing in linuxcnc. I am in the process of buying 7 of them right now for two machines I am working on.

That paired with 5i25 7i77, and your all set. I use the commander VFD's so there is no issue there either.

Just my 2 cents....

/EDIT Well, further look, that may be just the drive box. At first glance I thought it was a computer with drive cards in it.
