Hello ,
I am setting up a router with 5 axis analog servos , one servo on carousel for ATC and spindle with encoder for orientation. There are also lots of IO, 96 out and 128 in.
What options are there , I was thinking like 5i24 and two 7i48 and 7i44 with 3x 7i70 and 2x 7i71 to handle IO .
If 7i80 ethernet is possible to use with 7i48 that would be most desirable option as the computer could be remotely places from cabinet.
For anyone interested machine is IMA BIMA 610

Why it is whenever you just ask a question answer you find an answer right away.
So in 7i80 manual it says it has a firmware for two 7i48 .
Would other two ports be available for 7i44?

you can also consider a 7i93 or 7i92 to get all cards to a setup of your wish
and eth service
the 6i25 might be a real good start for a big config

One option is 7I92M+7I77+7I85
This gives you
16 12/24V outputs
32 12/24V inputs
6 analog outputs
10 encoder inputs (6 on 7I77 4 on 7I85)
6 Sserial ports for I/O expansion (1 on 7I77 5 on 7I85)
Then you could add sserial daughter cards for the rest of the I/O
(7I70 7I71 or 7I72, for digital I/O, 7I83 for additional analog)
Not sure if this is the lowest cost option

I reviewed the schematic and all connections and it seems I need 6 analog axis and 1 for spindle , X Y Z , 2 rotary and W for toolchanger. Spindle has no orientation so needs no encoder only 0-10V rpm command.
To avoid putting 2 x 7i48 or 7i77 and 7i48 is there any way to get one more analog output from 7i77

the 7i77 has 6 AXIS
and the 0-10V for the spindle is just a pwmto analog
so basic a low pass filter to any output
i use a homemade but there are redy made filters at 6usd
so you are fine with one 7i77

7i92 - 7i77-7i74
2 7i70
2 7i71
1 7i84
That should about do it.
6 axis, spindle, 6 encoders
plenty of I/O

That is how i do retrofits, also. Plenty of flexibility and the added bonus of wiring the E-stop input to a 7i70 and the E-stop output to the 7i71 so if anything is wrong, the machine can not go out of E-stop, it has to loop through all of the cards for it to work.7i92 - 7i77-7i74

he shoudt start on the 7i92-7i77 and see how far it goes
then add a card if needed
lower cost high efficant

If you used even one io from any of 7i70 or 7i71 in hal and the card is not there Linuxcnc wont even start so no need to think about estop
