Mesa 6i25 and 7i77 configuration was created by kostas
I'm working on a lathe retrofit with 6i25 (operating as 5i25) and 7i77 and there are some things that confuse me while working on power and connections.
I have already managed to get the +-10V servo drives working, but having trouble understanding power connections and field I/O.
I have seen in other threads that I should get some pins named like hm2_5i25.0.7i77.0.0.input-xx and hm2_5i25.0.7i77.0.0.output-xx, but instead I get hm2_5i25.0.gpio.0xx.in(_not) and hm2_5i25.0.gpio.0xx.out.
I suppose that something will change as soon as I connect field power. I read in page 16 of the 7i77 manual that "VIN power must be present for the 7I77 field I/O to be detected and operate", but I'm a little bit confused with the following sentence, so I have not connected power to the board yet: "For example with a standard 24V field power, +24V connects to the 7I77s field power input (on TB1) and the outputs on TB5 and TB6 now source +24V power to loads".
My understanding is that TB1 is used to provide +5V for the board operation, encoders and servo drive analog outputs, so I cannot understand why +24V field power connects to TB1. Also, TB5 pins are servo drives outputs +-10V, so what kind of loads is the manual refering to?

Field power is the orange connector on Mesa 7i77, that provides power for the two rows of outputs at the upper right of the board.

You mean TB7 and TB8, right? That's my understanding, I'm confused with the TB1, TB5 and TB6

Yes, the paragraph on page 16 of the 7I77 manual with the connector names
is in error. The error was introduced with the 7I77D model additions to the manual.
(The connector names were copy pasted from a 7I76 manual)
Just ignore the connector names in that paragraph, the individual connector
sections and the 7I77 drawing are correct.

Thanks Peter! I thought there was an error in the manual.
And what is the difference between VIN (field I/O logic power) and field power?
Also, I guess I can also safely drive the ENAx+/ENAx- enables from the field power, correct?

VIN powers the field I/O logic section
Field power powers the outputs and sets the input threshold
Unless you have a very good reason, they should normally remain connected
