7i96 with a G540 was created by phillc54
I have a 7i96 connected to a G540.
All four motor drivers and the charge pump are working fine.
I would like to connect the FAULT output from the G540 to the 7i96 if possible. It is on the G540's parallel port connector and is at 0.13V when normal and 4.25V when in fault mode.
The 7i96 inputs are in sinking mode.
Would it be OK to tie the 0V rails of the logic power supply (5V) and field power supply (24V) together and connect the FAULT output from the G540 to an input of the 7i96.

Theres no issue with commoning the 24V/5V since all 7I96 24V I/O is isolated
but it does seem a bit weird, I would think you would run the G540 from the
7I96's parallel expansion connector (with appropriate firmware)

#2 I hadn't thought of that.

#1 I was lazy, I had a 7i76e installed and swapped it out for the 7i96.I would think you would run the G540 from the
7I96's parallel expansion connector (with appropriate firmware)

Actually, I wondered about that when Phill emailed me his wiring diagram....
