7i29 via ethernet? was created by snoozer77
Hi Guys,

Might be a silly question, but just wondering if it would be possible to run a smart serial board from a 7i44 (or my pc ethernet port) to drive 2 x 7i29's?

Was using original servo drives, so my control pc is quite a distance away from my machine electrical cabinet. Now want to use 7i29's in same location as original drives, but dont know the best way to wire the drives over the 2 or so meter distance.

Any suggestions would be great.

Thank Matt

Yes, you could use a 7I93 Ethernet card to drive up to 4 7I29s

Sserial would theoretically be possible with a 7I90 but that's more of a firmware project

Thank you, that sounds great.

The 7i93 doesnt seem to be listed in the store.mesanet.com. ??

Also wondering if there is any benifit in running a PCI based 5i24 over the ethernet 7i80HD ??

Thanks Matt

Sorry for some reason the 7I93 was disabled in the store (fixed)

Ethernet advantages:
isolation of all signals
simple cabling

PCI advantages
Somewhat simpler setup
Supports higher servo thread rates than Ethernet

Hi PWC

Have been playing with the 7i80 and 7i93 that i purchased, cant seem to find a bitfile to match the same as the 5i24_25_rmsvss6_8_8.bit file i have for the 5i24. would it be possible to have a 7i80_16 bitfile made for my 7i49, 7i29 and 7i44. Also, sorry to be a pain, would it be possible to make a 7i49 and 7i29 bitfile for the 7i93 please.

Thanks for the support

Heres a bitfile for a 7I80HD_16 with
P1 7I49
P2 7I29
P3 7I44

File Attachment:

File Name: 7i80rm.zip
File Size:152 KB

Not really sure a 7I49 + a 7I29 makes sense on a 7I93 as you would be left with no GPIO
