Its not standard (would need custom firmware which I can make if you specify what other I/O you need)
but it can be done. typically you would connect the first 17 I/O bits of one 50 pin
port in the same GPIO order as a Mesa 25 pin FPGA card"

I don't know if this is obvious, but the 7i77 and 5i24 are from different parts of the Mesa offerings.
Mesa started off with the 50-pin bix header cards which are compatible with almost-standard IO cards from the likes of Opto22.
Typically a servo system using one of these boards (5i20, 5i22, 5i23, 5i24) would use the 7i33 daughter card.
Later Mesa noticed that there was an ecosystem based around the parallel port, and brought out the 5i25, which looks like a parallel port but uses an FPGA to do the same things as the p-port, but much faster, but using the same downstream hardware.
Then they brought out their own stepper breakout (7i76) but with a few of the parport lines now handling serial IO to handle a lot more channels than the parport can do.
The 5i24 has 25 IO pins per header, the 5i25 has 17.
This isn't to say that the 7i76 can't work with a 5i24 with the right firmware and a cable adaptor. But it isn't a typical setup, and would require Mesa to make a custom firmware.
