Magnetic Scale with Mesa 7i76e and 7i85 was created by CNC_build

				Hello all together,
I am currently in the design process of my new CNC Router and am thinking about putting linear scales on it.
It will be run by Mesa 7i76e which I already have on hand, motors are the common JMC 180W servos, minimum Step size is 0,0002mm.
As the 7i76e only has one encoder input I want to extend it with a 7i85.
For the linear scale I'd like to use the following with RS422 signal and 1um resolution:
de.aliexpress.com/item/32962854503.html?...7,searchweb201603_52
Does this sound reasonable or am i taking the wrong approach? Has someone maybe already experience with the ditron magnetic scale?
Thank you in advance,
Robert

How many microns per second will your machine be moving? You just need to be sure that you are below the 7i85 maximum counting rate.

I have 1 µm linear scales on my milling machine, not ditron though.
The 7i85 can do 20 MHz so if you just keep below 20 m/second you should be safe.
Differential signal is ok. Well, I think this should work just fine.

I'm not helping you here but I used Ditron scales on my manual lathe. I thought they were good quality but I paid a lot less than the listing price back in the day.
