Mesa remote error 29 under voltage was created by OT-CNC
Hi,
I'm getting the following errors while starting linuxcnc:
hm2/hm2_7i92.0:Error after doit clear
hm2/hm2_7i92.0: Smart serial card
hm2_7i92.0.7i77.0.0 remote error = (29) Under Voltage
I have been doing filed wiring and testing some switches, relays and prox sensors. All worked great yesterday, today not so. Checked hal configuration for field voltage and it was around 8v. PS is reading 23.8v. Found a tiny strand of wire clipping that bridged across the chip in front of the orange power connector on the 7i77 near c14. I wonder if that damaged a chip? The chip below the power connector near c49 component runs way hot
Switching to another 7i77, the error message is not present.
I may need to send this one back for evaluation?

Can someone idiot proof me?
I'm about to wire my backup 7i77 and don't want to damage it if any of my wiring did so.
I'm using PNP proximity sensors: AES-CP-1F at 24v, rated at no load supply current of 10mA or less, operating load current 100 mA or less. Will be using 5 or 6 units.
Using safety relay with built in flyback diode: Finder 97.02, coil 99.02.9.024.99 7i77 output connected to + on coil module. I assume diode direction is correct.
For MPG, I pulled 5v from unconnected TB1 on 7i77 with ground shared on TB2, (1 PS supplying 5v on 7i92 supplying 5v to 7i77)
wonder if that's a no no...

That all sounds OK
You can verify flyback diode polarity by manually connecting the relay to 24V power

PCW,
In software mode 3, are inputs 16-19 safe on 24v or 5v only?

24V is fine, the physical input circuitry is always the same
Even in mode 3, Input thresholds for bit inputs 16..19 are normal (roughly 1/2
VField), but the (software) threshold for inputs feeding the MPG counter are set to 2.5V
