7i97 field power wrongly labelled in the manual, where do I supply the power? was created by shadab
Hi all,
I have to connect my 7i97 board to analog drives and I have got the board to work by supplying the 5v to the logic part. I feel like the manual is all over the place, 7i77 is mentioned in many places. In the actual 7i77 manual there is TB2 connector where we can connect the field power. In 7i97 we have TB4 where I suppose the field power has to be connected but it is labelled as 5v(I have highlighted it in the attachment). So where should I connect the power to get the required +/- 10 V analog output for the Servo drive SGDA05AS from Yaskawa.
Thanks and Regards,
Shadab

After checking the continuities between 5v supply at P3 and the TB4 connector 5v auxiliary input, it shows continuity. The manual is in fact correct. I am still not able to understand how we should supply the power to get the +/- 10v analog drive outputs.

Could a buck\boost converter be on board.

You just apply 5V for Logic and the Volts you need for your IO’s (at my machine this is 24V)
The +-10V are done by the board
The +-10V are done by the board

I only see one mention of 7I77 on page 10 plus I see another error on page 10 (
TB5 mentioned instead of TB3). If you see any other errors I would appreciate
if you could point them out. The 7I97 uses only 5V power, normally applied to P3.

Hi Peter,
Initially it was very confusing because I was comparing it to the 7i77 board. Because mesa does not include any schematic, I was not able to understand the power supply part. Specifically how to 10V is generated. I looked up all the ICs on the board to check whether we have some buck boost DC-DC converter IC on the board or something similar. I connected the PicoScope to the drive output and used your HAL/INI files to generated drive output and was able to do so. I got the correct +-10V as well.
