Choosing right Mesa board was created by Pro_El
Hello my friends. My new retrofit will be on Maho with 4 axis. I will need 3 pwm outputs and one step and dir output. I am considering purchase 7i95 but i am wandering if i can convert easy step and dir to pwm. I will need feedback on all 4 axis. I want to find out what my option are to use this board. Second question is: when I'm working with step and encoder feedback are steps corrected with loop or feedback is only for following error. Is there some HAL entry that will make steps to correct with correlation of encoder feedback (very similar to pwm if not the same.) Thanks to all

What kind of drives do you have?

Hello PCW,
I have 3 china servo motor i wish to drive with pwm. And one stepper motor for little 4th removable axis.

7I95 firmware with some PWM/DIR channels replacing STEP/DIR
channels is a possibility

That is great news, Are there some drawback when replacing dir with pwm for losing some of 6 channels or let it say i will have 5 pwm and 1 step dir. Can you make firmware with 5 pwm and 1 step and dir. This firmware be good and for the machine wi will be build in the future. Or if it is more easy to make 5 pwm on 25 pin parallel conector will be good to go.
Thanks a lot PCW

You could put PWM gens on the STEP/DIR outputs or the expansion
connector though I'm not sure 6 stepgens and 5 PWMgens will fit
An advantage of using the 7I95 outputs is that they are high current
5V outputs and more resistant to damage than the bare 3.3V FPGA

Yes for sure will be much safer not to drive directly from FPGA at 3,3v. Than will be better to replace 5 stepgens with 5 PWMgens to be on safe.
Thanks PCW
