Choice Mesa card with Dym4 driver and glass scale encoder was created by laurentl38
hello,
I plan to retrofit a hermle milling machine.
I will install new Dym4 and servo drivers on this machine. And control them in step / dir in possition mode.
The machine is already equipped with an original linear encoder (glass scale encoder) that I would like to keep to make a closed loop in servo-control.
I would like to go on Mesa cards in ethernet for example a 7i80HD25 but I am a little lost for the choice of daughter cards.
I image the addition of a 7i52 to connect the lineair encoder (glass scale)
For digital input / output, limit switch and gearbox. I was thinking of using RS422 from the 7i52 and connecting 7i64 cards or other, for example
But I can't see which card I need to generate the step / dir ...?
is this configuration correct or am I on the wrong track.
And in this case, do you have any ideas for me?
Thanks for your help
regards
Laurent

How many axis do you need?

I have a universal rotary table that I would also like to digitize in the future.
So I would need at least 4 axis minimum.
Or, 5 axis, if one day I thought to put an additional rotation on the table (rotating plate perpendicular to the table) or if it is necessary to add an encoder to have the possibility of the spindle for rigid tapping.

I would probably go with a 7I76E+7I89

Thank you for this infos.
there is already a good amount of input / output. And with these 2 cards it allows to have 2 rs422 ports which could allow me to put another daughter serial card.
For the FPGA board, I think going on a 7i92M is a good choice

if you go with 7i92M you would need a 7i76 and not the 7i76E.

Right the 7I76E has the FPGA part built in
and a 7I76E is a bit more capable than a 7I92+7I76
(one more expansion port)

ok, so I have the choice between
a 7i76 + 7i92M
or a 7i76E
the difference is that with a 7i76E, you can put 2 more daughter cards instead of 1 for the 7i76
if not, at the configuration programming level, is there one more plung & play than the other?
otherwise what is the difference between a 7i76E and a 7i76ED

Yes, but 7i92 has two ports, one goes to 7i76, while 7i76E has 2 FREE ports .

7i76E has no big DB25 cable.if not, at the configuration programming level, is there one more plung & play than the other?
Sinking OR sourcing outputs, but do recheck that.otherwise what is the difference between a 7i76E and a 7i76ED

Thank you for this info.
I will give myself a little more time to think things over. but, I think I'm going to go for a 7i76E+7i89
Thanks for your help
