Hello
I have a CnC working but with a potentiometer to control the spindle speed.
The Spindle is connected to a Power supply whitcgh accept a 0-10V control.
I would like to control the spindle speed with the 7i96 mesa card.

I have the 7i96 tool installed (latest version).

I have connected the Spindle On cable to Ouput 0
I have connected the Spindle 0-10V cable to Ouput 1
I have configured this Output with Spindle On and Sindle CW in the 7i96 Tools

I have read my "old" ini file but the Spindle documentation is not so helpfull :-)
In the Spindle type it is not obvious wich one I have to select...
Did someone have a link on a page where there are some advice or explanation how to configure it?

Many thanks

The OUT pins on a 7I96 are digital (Either on or off) so cannot give
an adjustable 0 to 10V signal directly but can by using PWM
and a filter, something like this:

Where R1 is perhaps 1K
R2 is 10K
C1 is 100 uF

You would also have to setup PWM in your hal file using the pwmgen component

Thanks for Reply
I am not sure to understand the wiring around the 7i96 Out +/- and the 10V.
I need an external 10V supply ?

If your drive supplies 10V then that can be used.

Depending on how much current the drives 10V can supply
you may need to adjust the resistor/capacitor values

Thanks for the electronics part. I will by this module.
But what about the configuration part?

I was wondering, the On/Off of the spindle was a Wire.
Should I put the Output to High to simulate the short circuit ? or is it more complicate?

I put up my HAL and wiring diagram in the first post of my mini -lathe thread.

Thanks for the files.

Did you use the 7i96 Configuration Tool from JohnT to produce the ini and hal files ?
Did you connect the ON/OFF off the Spindle to an Outpus directly?

Did you look at the schematics I posted? I am running a VFD, so the VFD enable, start and direction are all controlled directly by the 7i96, and the analog speed input is a PWM output from the 7i96, changed to a 0-10V analog signal by that little widget, and then input to the VFD.

Hello RotarySMP
I have received my small board to convert PWM to 0-10V.
It look likes yours.
It has also a 5V / 24V PMW selector.
Did the Mesa card Output send 5V or 24V ?
Thanks
