momentary lapse of judgement possibly...... (I have a possible idea of how it happened but not 100%)
7i76E CR12 = PWR FAIL led + high freq buzz is it now an offering for the gods?
CR13 illuminated too.
is it repairable by return (or sold as spares and repairs on ebay?)

Doesn't sound good, CR12 means that either the 3.3V or 1.2V are shorted
possibly a damaged FPGA

No problem, thanks for the confirmation {expensive mistake but being upset won't change it or turn time back ..... I bought another from eusurplus earlier this afternoon when I spotted it bussing + led illuminated, at least I made the right decision there (I was worried it may come back to life) }
it was on my "test bench".... and I moved something and I think my 5v stepdown power supply may have (probably, did not see it, it was the only other thing that was near the board and all wiring was secured) touched the 3.3 volt pin next to CR13..... annoying but I'm sure on of the other million possibilities will catch me out next time with something else..... {the 5v power supply was for the 7i92}
lesson 204,021 learned....
thanks again for taking the time to consider and reply much appreciated.
