I have just upgraded a machine with glass scales and added a 7i85S to a 7i76ED. I have successfully set up the scales using encoder.00, .01, and .02 leaving encoder.03 on the 7i85S unused.
The spindle feedback going to the encoder connection of the 7i76ED was left as before and I expected that to be accessible as encoder.04 now with the new setup. The pins show in HAL-show but I cannot seem to get any signals.
I had to use the unused encoder.03 connector on the 7i85S to get the signals into hal for now but I get nothing on encoder.04 when connected to the 7i76ED.

So my setup: 7i76ED and a 7i85S connected to the expansion connector P1 and a 7i73 on the SSerial Port.

I flashed the card using the file: 7i76e_7i76x1_7i85sx2d.bit

In hal I load the module with:

loadrt hm2_eth board_ip="192.168.1.121" config=" num_encoders=5 num_pwmgens=0 num_stepgens=5 sserial_port_0=11xxxx"

Any ideas?

Not sure but you may need to set num_encoders=6

Edit no, for 7i76e_7i76x1_7i85sx2d.bit the 7I76E encoder is number 8
If you only have one 7I85S connected you should probably use
7i76e_7i76x1_7i85sx1D.bit (The 7I76E encoder will be number 4 on this firmware)
