VFD TO 7I76ED was created by teebee
Hi
I want to connect my VFD to the 7i76ed. (docplayer.nl/docs-images/50/26420363/images/26-0.png) There is a file online on how this can be done. (forum.linuxcnc.org/media/kunena/attachme...-10-15at22.52.28.png) I still don't know how to connect this based on this file. Someone who can help?

How did you set up the 7i76? Did you use a config wizard (in which case it should have been handled there) or did you configure the HAL yourself (in which case I would assume you would know enough to work it out from the pin names)
So, I am curious about how you found yourself needing to ask the question.
But, that doesn't matter, I am sure we can sort it out.
So, firstly, which VFD, and how do you plan to control it?

I am a complete beginner in this type of stuff. I want to make a CNC lathe for a project at school. So everything is basically new.
I have not installed the 7I76ed yet. This board is coming in next week.
The intention is that I generate my G-code in LinuxCNC. With this program I want to control 2 stepper motors and a spindle.
So if I understand you correctly I need to install my 7i76ed first. This using a configuration wizard or a HAL.
Is it clear to do this on LinuxCNC or will this be very difficult as I have no experience with this at all. Or do you know of a good website, Youtube video where I can follow this?
My VFD is the mitsubishi fr-d700: docplayer.nl/docs-images/50/26420363/images/26-0.png

You should start with the PncConf wizard (you can do this before the 7i76 arrives).
linuxcnc.org/docs/2.8/html/config/pncconf.html
The 7i76 has a built-in digital potentiometer, so you would connect the 7i76 spindle control pins to pins 5, 2 and 5 on the VFD.
You need to set the VFD up for anlogue input speed control, and also (if possible) for the "2 button" mode, ie one input for on/off and another for fwd/reverse as the 7i76 has dedicated outputs to drive these too.
A stepper-controlled lathe with a VFD is a very standard setup, it should all be rather easier than you seem to be anticipating.

I tried to run the PncConf wizard. I don't know where to get the information out of the PncConf to switch the VFD. There is very little information on this card how to connect it. I have set the VFD up for anlogue input speed control.
"The 7i76 has a built-in digital potentiometer, so you would connect the 7i76 spindle control pins to pins 5, 2 and 5 on the VFD."
What pins are these on the Mesa card?
This is what I have so far:

Plus you will need to program the VFD for ENA/DIR mode instead of FWD/REV mode

Yes I have viewed this manual. But couldn't get it out of there either.
