5i25 / 7i76 / 7i85 - swapping Dsub connectors over? was created by Muzzer
As part of my system build, I've stripped down the bench top setup and am getting the components ready to go into the actual cabinet. I had the system (lathe) working with my 7i76 on the main D connector of the 5i25 and the 7i85 on a second D connector coming off the pin header of the 5i25 via a ribbon cable.
Due to the way the boards need to be wired up in the cabinet, I've ended up swapping the 7i76 and 7i85 across, so that the 7i85 is now on the main D connector etc. Obviously this won't simply work as before but I'm not sure how to reconfigure it. Do I need to change the bitfile or run some sort of setup to point the 5i25 to the new arrangement of the 7i76 and 7i85?
Hopefully I haven't created a big job for myself here by swapping them over!

You would need a 5I25_7i85_7i76.bit bitfile rather than the standard
5i25_7i76_7i85 bitfile. Is that a 7I85 or 7I85S?

It's the straight 7i85

Brilliant! Many thanks for the prompt and helpful reply. I'll have a go at that later.
I didn't think of this potential complication until after I'd mounted the boards!

I seem to have reflashed it OK but after a restart when I try to run LinuxCNC, I get
./hallib/Bantam_v1.hal:27: Pin 'hm2_5i25.0.7i76.0.0.input-00' does not exist
Do I need to rename some of the nets relating to the 7i76 address in the HAL file now? Although I don't have all the inputs connected up again yet, I don't think it's even getting to that stage.

Do you have VField power going to 7i76?

It wasn't but I reconnected it (CR2 now comes on) and restarted. Now I am back in play, so the changes seem to have been made successfully. Thanks for your patience - it had to be simple!
Back to the cabinet build again....
