Recent Mesa 7I92M's 7C80's and 7C81's use a different FPGA EEPROM
And must be programmed with the latest Mesaflash or memory corruption
is possible.

The latest mesaflash is:

Do we need to build a new package for the repository?
ie, does "sudo apt-get install mesaflash" currently provide the correct level?
Does the ISO contain the correct version?

I tried to update the changelog file for the mesaflash repository so you could tell if your running the latest version or not but I don't have push rights to mesaflash for some reason.

The fix for 32 Mbit EEPROMs was pushed on May 27 so if the ISO/package was made after that its ok. There's also a bug fix on June 29 but its not a critical bug, just a bug in the added "--dbname" feature.

JT: I'm surprised the push rights aren't the same for Mesaflash and LinuxCNC

I guess that the ISO would have picked up the current .deb from the main repo. I don't know what the path is from the Mesaflash github to the LinuxCNC repository, but that seems to be 3.4.0 from 2020-05-22
www.linuxcnc.org/dists/buster/base/binary-amd64/
So, we are not distributing the correct version.

To clarify on this, do you mean recently manufactured cards have an eeprom hardware revision/alternate eeprom or those cards in general have different eeprom?

Only recent versions of those cards require the latest Mesaflash
( They have 32 Mbit EEPROMs rather than 8 or 16 Mbit )
