7i76e Smart Serial Port sudden error was created by prcdslnc13
I am suddenly getting this stack of errors on one of my laptops. I have 2 of these laptops setup identically and using the same configs but on one machine I am getting issues with this stack of errors.
Details:
LinuxCNC 2.8.2
7i76e_7i76x1pD firmware on the 7i76e
Dell Latitude 5424 with an i5 processor with hyperthreading off and turned to single core operation.
I am running wifi on both laptops, but the issue seems to persist with it disabled or not.
There is nothing hooked to the mesa other than power at the moment. This is setup for bench testing.
This doesn't seem to be an ethernet issue. I thought from other threads it might be a card issue, but this doesn't show on other computers.
Thoughts? What other info is needed?

The watchdog bit which disconnected the sserial Xmit which will cause a cascade of sserial errors.
This usually means a real time error or a network hang of some kind.
Note the "error finishing read!" This means that several read requests
in a row timed out. Not really unexpected with a laptop.
Take a look at "servo-thread.tmax" and hm2_7i76e.0.read.tmax
while running to get a idea what's going on. (These are in CPU clocks not ns on X86)

read.tmax 8685989

I was just coming back to tell you that I found a newer version of the none PREEMPT-RT kernel got installed at some point and it was defaulting to it. That seems to have been the issue.
