I blew up my 5i25 board was created by ericg
I believe I have anyway, so I have ordered a replacement from BigJohnT.
but just to be sure it cannot be salvaged here is what happened.
I was setting up a new input to drive a mux2 select instance and just sticking a wire onto a P2 input and I may have slipped and briefly connected the input to 12v as the two pins are close to each other on a switch I will use.
I now get joint 0, 1 and 2 errors when I try to power AXIS up,
I get these errors even when I disconnect the 5i25 card and try to power up.
I switched PC's and used my old parallel port and the cnc machine works OK with that.
I checked readhmid it shows OK, I reflashed the board and it showed no errors but still I get these joint error messages and AXIS won't start, there are no LED's lit on the board error LED or otherwise.
So bottom line is, can it somehow be recovered or do I just bin it and wait for the replacement?
cheers
Eric

If you did connect 12V to a GPIO pin you likely damaged the bus switch part
on P2 (repairable) but may have also damaged the FPGA (not economic to repair)

Once again, thanks PCW for the response, do you know how to repair the P2 bus switch? or does it need to go back to the company Mesa for this?

Don't feel too bad. I have fried 2x 7i96 boards.
Not a cheap exercise, however I did learn from each one.
I sent them both off to be repaired but haven't heard from the guy in about a year now.

Oh well! at least you learned, can't say that for myself, as I'm 1 up on you, I have now fried 2 Gecko G540 driver boards and now this 5i25 one, all through carelessness
perhaps at my age I should take up bowls.
cheers

After sending two different boards in for repair I no longer make connections or test while anything has power. I have a cheap lab supply to check circuit basic functions before they get hooked up to the mess card.
Mesa has been very fast with repairs fortunately. Even though one was beyond repair.

not sure it's worth my while to get it repaired as I live in the lockdown capital of the world, Melbourne Australia and postage to/from the USA is a killer on top of the repair costs

hey ericg,
I'm in Brisbane and found someone local who said they could fix them.
If i ever hear from them again I'll let you know their details as they may be able to be saved.
Postage to USA from here was $120 each way, cheaper to buy a new board rather than sending back to MESA.

That would be great, thanks RNJFAB, if you do hear from them it would be appreciated if you let me know.
Pity there wasn't a local agent/repairer in Australia, I can't believe the USA postage costs these days, I used to buy stuff from the US regularly some years ago and postage was very reasonable and often I could get parts from the US quicker than I could get stuff from Sydney.
cheers
