That is very possible. This CVR im using is made for up to 7.5Kv @ 13K amps on a regular basis. It is WAY MORE robust than i needed for this test.

Never had an issue with genuine Meanwell PSU.

I'm also using a couple of Weidmuller PSUs as well. I'm not expecting any issue with these either.

Thanks for the input guys!!! I'll order a Meanwell and see if that helps my issues. Im using a Siemens currently and have never had issues with them before, but maybe I just got a bad one....

@ PCW could the current spike from the power supply be putting the 7I76e into a protection mode of some sort?

There should be no current spike.
Are you switching the DC side of the field power? (you should not)

Also a 1 or 2 Amp 24V supply is more than enough

I am switching the A/C side of the power supply. I am also using the 24v for my limit/home and thc switches, so the 14.2 Mean well should be more than enough!
