Help connecting NPN NO 17-24v touch probe to 7i96 board was created by kbec
Hi Guys,
I could not get my previous probe working, so I got a new one. I think the issue was the voltage was too low.
The probe wiring says:
Yellow/Green Positive power supply (5-12V or 17-24V)
Blue GND
Black output, 50mA max.
I have my input common connected to Ground. If I am reading this correctly, the black wire should go to one of the inputs, and I connect the Yellow/Green direct to +24v.
I have a converter to convert the signal from NPN to PNP if I have to.
Thanks,

If its not too much trouble you could wire all inputs for NPN sensors
(since the probe is NPN)
This means you connect the 7I96 input common to +24V

That may be a problem, I would need to rewire all my limit switches. The last time I rewired something, I fried my optical encoder.
I have a converter to convert the NPN to PNP..
Since I have the input common to ground, would that work?

If the 7I96 input common is ground, Its suitable for PNP sensors
(PNP sensors supply a positive voltage to the input)
(PNP sensors supply a positive voltage to the input)
