Hmm, quite annoying. Well, it depends on what is going on. I assume this is the classic 6 balls and 3 rods type circuit. Cleaning seems like a good idea unless the problem is a microscopic oxide film that is forming. The balls and rods should be some kind of stainless that should not build up much of an oxide film. What voltage are you applying to the probe? Maybe it needs a higher voltage to break through whatever oxide is there. But, very thorough cleaning with a residue-free solvent should be tried. Many common solvents have contaminants in them that are left behind when the solvent evaporates. Those could cause exactly this issue.

Ok, thanks for the input. I was using just the multimeter continuity function, but ill try with io voltage and see. Yeah I was also worried spraying something might make it worse. I have some no residue contact cleaner, so maybe ill try that if its still not working well.
