I supose PCW might kill the subject, but if he dos not show himself lets turn this into a vote on what I should replace first.
Events:
So, one of the motor channels on my 7i30 stopped working after a motor runway event, it was not a particular fast, nor very long and not even the first. The other channels seam unafected.
Settings:
The motor is a "small" 5 axis on a wire EDM machine, the board is fead 24V (power supply very close), fast decay, 3A. Signals used are Enable, Direction and PWM.
I need all 4 channels for minor things on the machine. The main ICs are A3959SLBT the other small one near the control signal I failed to see the name. Nothing looks visualy damaged. The other channels work fine.
If you guys have any idea on what should be replaced firts or tests to be performed I am open to sugentions.

Most likely the A3959 as that is the HBridge chip.
(the other chips are 4 74HCT14s and a small 3.3v voltage regulator)

The ic just arrived. I changed and “boom”, it works again. I decreased the voltage from 24 to 17 and added a cap on the input. Any other suggestion to try in preventing future problems?
Thanks again Peter

A 28V TVS diode across the 24V would probably help also
Say a 5KP28A
Say a 5KP28A

I use a 7i30 for a small plasma, for safety I preferred to power 30 volts but leave the limiter at 1 amp. then as the manual says a nice capacitor on motor power, I had no problems.
