Greetings Everyone!!!I am working on HBM project where I am using Mesa 7I73  and 7I84 for IO purpose where I have About 46 Inputs( push button including 17key for gmoccapy horizontal and vertical function key and other jog let etc etc) and 32 output( push button indicators) so i have planed to use 7i73 for encoder, analogue, and NO LCD AND 4X8 KEYPAD mode for input and other 16 inputs and 18 output will utilizes as simple IO Now for matric keyboard i am using schematic shown by RotarySMP in below image do I need to use diodes in columns ?

Second thing I want to use 24v for input(not keyboard side) and output for that I have ordered some optocoupler and UNL2003 but i am very beginner in electronic so no idea how to connect io pins with optocoupler and unl2003 does any one have schematic to utilise 7i73 io with 24v i have one (in below image) 24v input does it will work ?

Thank you

You do not need diodes for the keypad

No inputs are available on the 40 pin connector,
so your OPTO would need to connect to inputs on
the 34 pin connector. For the OPTO, you do not need
the 1K series resistor, and if you use that circuit, do not
use the inputs with built-in pullup resistors (in8..in15)

Yes there will be no inputs on P1 (40 pin connector )available but could i utilise LCD and KEY output bits available as  24v output using unl2803 as shown below circuit.

after learning about how pull-up resistors works i have find another circuit used for Arduino ( internal pull-up active) does work with 7I73 for all input including In8 to in15 or if need change what it should be ?

Thanks

Hi there hope you have great weekend...

In my last post i had attached two schematics for input and output does they are compatible with 7i73 and one more question i am using 1 mpg and 3 analogue inputs with 7i73 so could i use spared 6 encoder input as normal input with push button ?

Yes, the encoder inputs can be used as regular inputs
you can connect a pushbutton directly to these pins
as they have built in pullup resistors.

And above schemetics are compatible to use with 7i73 IO including In8 to 15

They should be (as long as you keep the 24V stuff away from any 7I73 pin...)

Sorry to drift a bit away from the original topic, but this fits here also I think.

I made an overview of the pin names in the different modes and I would like to include it somewhere in the LinuxCNC docs.

Peter, can you have a quick look at this if it looks reasonable for you? Thanks!

I'd like to add this to the Mesa Configuration Tool.
