7i73 outputs - drive an LED?

Working on a new pendant/panel plan and would like a few indicator LEDs connected to halui outputs (optional stop on, feed hold active, etc.).

The 7i73 manual indicates the outputs (other than OD0 and OD1 high-current) can drive (source?) 3.3v at 4mA.  Can these drive an LED directly?

If yes, does anyone know of a non-SMD LED (prefer 3mm) that can be driven by a 7i73 without additional fussing like a current-limiting resistor on each LED?

I plan to use some cherry mx keys (or clones) for inputs, and ideally I'd stick some LED's in the switches for illuminated indicators.  Not interested in USB, RGB keyboard/keypad or other software-based solution -  direct I/O only.

Thanks,
Ralph

You can drive a low current LED directly from a 7i73 pin when you limit the current using a resistor.
I haven't heard of low current LEDs with an integrated resistor suitable for 3.3V. If there are some, then I guess they will be not easy to get.
So I would just pick a low current LED (one that lights bright enough at 4mA or so) and add a resistor.

I think its best on any case to use a current limiting resistor.
A high efficiency LED should be used due to the low current drive.

Thanks all for the quick response.

I'm planning to hand-wire this thing, so adding half a dozen or so resistors shouldn't be too miserable.

Really?
Do you want mine also to make it properly miserable? :)
I still have more to do, a lot more ... dang!
Jokes aside, go for it, as you might notice i do not know how many i have left, i never count them, just do in batches so it does not get boring.

half a dozen individual resistors... not half a dozen operator panels.

Otherwise...  Calling JLC-PCB at that point.
