MESA 7I92H-C11G-7I73? was created by SupplySergeant
I am working on retrofitting Linuxcnc to an old bedmill, that used to have a Heidenhain control. I inherited the project with new chinese AC servos (SDF20NK9X drivers and 1.5KW servos), a 7I92H and two C11G breakouts. I have a Mesa 7I73 on hand too. I really want to build my control panel using the Mesa 7I73, so I can set up the physical button switches I am comfortable with. I would love to replace the C11G's with a 7I77, but not in the budget right now. Can I interface these somehow, or do I need to get a 7I74 to use the 7I73? Thanks in advance!

You can interface a 7I73 to a 7I92 with a single chip (SP491 for example)
as long as you have 2 free FPGA pins, but a 7I76 replacing the C11s is
probably an easier path (as it gives you lots of I/O plus a 7I73 connection)

I completely agree, that would be the preferred direction. Unfortunately, no stock on 7i76's, and the budget only has about $80 for the moment, so the REALLY preferred 7I77 (since I have servos) is out of reach, probably until at least the end of November. That's why I was looking at the $69 7I74, it's in stock and in budget! Just don't want to spend the money if I am creating a nightmare tto get working. And I REALLY want to avoid board-level fabrication, so the build my own interface is out for now. Thanks!

We should have 7I76's in a couple of weeks
The 7I74 will work but you will lose the I/O that the second C11 provided

OH! Sorry, I should have been clearer, I haven't wired anything yet. The only thing I MIGHT need the second C11G for would be to use one relay for mist coolant, and I really don't mind switching to that with a manual rotary switch and using M07 to turn on coolant period.
