Firmware for 7I92 and 7I36 or 7I48? was created by SupplySergeant
A friend needs to get a lathe running really soon. It has an Anilam 4200T control that isn't behaving, and he want to switch to Linuxcnc. In looking at what is out there to drive the analog servo drives on his lathe, I see the only in-stock solutions look to be the 7I36 or 7I48. I have a 7I92 he can use, but I don't see a firmware for that combo. Any help in how to procede would be great, thanks!

We should have 7I77s available in a couple weeks
7I36 and 7I48s require a 50 pin FPGA card

I totally missed this part "7I36 and 7I48s require a 50 pin FPGA card"!
He has a job for the lathe that can't wait a few weeks, unfortunately. Is there any in stock combo that will run two axis of analog servos, and the spindle vfd?

Another option is the Pico Systems PPMC for analog servo drives. There is an encoder card, a DAC card and a DIO card, you can plug in more cards if you need more functions. The encoder and DAC cards support 4 axes each. We have assembled boards and just have to put together the card cages and test. We can deliver these in a few days after order.

I'll get back to you on that tomorrow. He is currently chasing signals with an oscilloscope, it may be a bad encoder or cable. If so, the time constraint goes away and he can convert when stuff is a bit easier to acquire!

I looked on the Mesa web site yesterday and there were 5i24 and 7i36 available. Those should work together, assuming that there is a firmware.I totally missed this part "7I36 and 7I48s require a 50 pin FPGA card"!

Well, turned out to be a shorted encoder. He is up and running, but is now planning to rebuild to Linuxcnc as soon as the current run of parts is done. So, I will watch Mesanet for 7i77's to come in stock! Thanks for the help, I appreciate it all!
