Hello everyone,
Sorry for my bad english, i'm from germany, but i try my best :-)

I have a mesa 5i25 with a mesa 7i77 for my milling machine and now i need some more IO's. Is it possible to add some smart serial cards to the 7i77 and how do i have to do that? I am new to LinuxCNC and the Mesa boards and need your help

Thanks for your Help!

Leo

Yes, you can add 1 SSerial card to 7i77, so that can be
7i84 = 32 inputs 16 outputs
7i70 = 48 inputs
7i71 = 48 outputs
7i73 = MPG/ control panel/ IO/ LCD
or any other SSerial card.
In the Mesa 7i77 manual ( i think) there is a guide on how to wire a normal network cable for SSerial, so very easy to do.

Yes, add inputs and/or outputs, something like :
net reitstockpinole-left      <=  [HMOT](CARD0).7i84.0.2.input-03
The SSerial cards do not need any setup, just wire and start LinuxCNC then use "show hal configuration" from the "machine" menu to find the pins.
