Do I need a BOB? 5i25 or 6i25?

I have a stepper driven home made cnc router (3 axis, 4 motors). The steppers are driven by a Gecko G540. I've been using an ancient Dell with a built in parallel port. I haven't used it for several years due to events out of my control; I find now that the G540 motherboard has lost one channel, it's in for repair.
While repairs are happening, I decided to upgrade the computer. I'm looking at a Dell T3500, which has both PCI and PCIE slots.
1. If I go for a Mesa card, does it matter if it is a 5i25 or 6i25?
2. Do I need a BOB with Mesa?

Thanks,
Steve

1. No
2. No
5i25 = PCI
6i25 = PCI-E
7i92 = ETH
Technically those are the same thing, so it does not matter.
And no need for BOB if you use just the G540.
Still, you can get a BOB later and use the second port on the Mesa boards as all of those have 2 of parallel port equivalents, but much faster, so you can expand I/O, PWM, encoders, MPG, user panel, etc.

Excellent, you even got to another question still in the formative stage.
Thank you!
