First you need to fix your keyboard.
Second, tell where you are stuck, and what your proficiency is with linux. Nobody can know that. So to check connectivity, use ping. To flash, use mesaflash. Generate configuration with pncconf. This english linuxcnc.org/docs/2.9/html/config/pncconf.html seems to be normal enough for me.

What rmu means is caps lock is like shouting!
Why would you want to flash a 7i96?
My Mesa Configuration tool can flash mesa cards and a whole lot more...

If you have set up the correct IP address on the 7i96 and the Rpi you can use ping to test or you can use my tool to check that the communications to the board is correct.
