7i96s / Ping / Mesaflash response

Hi All, 

First off -- thanks for the incredible resources of this forum, so much knowledge and a willingness to help --- really appreciate y’all! This learning Linux and Linux CNC and new hardware is currently a near vertical learning curve for me…. 

I’m using a 7i96s, connected to a Rasp Pi, with the LCNC 2.8.4 ISO…

I’ve managed to ping the mesa board, but when attempting to query if from Mesa flash – it’s coming back not found.   (Mesaflash built via make file with no errors, --help comes back with plenty of info...)

I am using the Pi via SSH via wlan, I’m thinking that Mesaflash is looking for the board through wlan and not eth0…. This is a wild guess, am I missing something? 

Should I be able to read a raw, new out of the box board with Mesaflash, is there a switch that I need to pass to say hey – use eth0, not wlan??
