7i96 - are 5v and Gnd pins converted to GPIO was created by beefy
Regarding the stock config setup on a 7i96, you get 5 step/dir pin sets, and 1 serial pin set.
Each of these pin sets comes with 5v & Gnd pins too.
If any of these pins sets are disabled, thus causing the pins to become GPIO, does this also apply to the 5v and Gnd pins, or are they permanently connected to the boards 5v and Gnd buses.

They are permanently 5V and gnd.
Is this a 7i96 or 7i96S ? They do have some differences, but pretty sure the above is valid for both.
