Apart from the number of I\O and connectors is there a great deal of difference between a 7i92 & 7i98 ?
I use a 7i92 on the mill but just looking for some options for the lathe.
I've been playing around with the various "Colorlite" type alternatives, whilst great I know I can depend on Mesa being around for a few more years. Unless of course Claus and his mates decide that no one can have tools and we'll all be happy.

Seems to be the same thing with more IO, 3X17 pins while 7i92 is 2X17 pins.

For a lathe, if you have step/dir drives (all stepper drives and almost all new servo drives), then Mesa 7i96S would be a much better choice for a small price difference.
It can also be expanded immensly, as all Mesa cards can, it has a free IDC26 connector and a Smart Serial connector, making it very versatile.

I'll keep that in mind. Yeah I got a couple of the smart serial cards in the mill build, one for I think 8 channel analogue, the pendant card and a 7i76, and the one with the 8 RJ45 smart serial plugs....you know just in case
