Hi,
My machine setup is 7i76e+7i85+7i85s+7i84.
I tried to connect the 7i84 card to my 7i85 card but without success. It's  necessary to open a second sserial port in bit file? I see only one on startup on the 7i76e card.

You likely need to edit the sserial_port_0=something
line in your hal file

Yes i try "sserial_port_0=202xxxxx".  To set up first smart serial Port on the 785 card.
But i wonder, during linuxnc startup there is only one smart serial interface show on the 7i76e card.

The linuxCNC startup message only shows active sserial ports

Does the 7I84 work in the 7I76's expansion port?

What does mesaflash --device 7i76e --addr [ipaddr] --readhmid report?

No, the 7i84 not work on the 7i76e expansion port. That was the reason to change.

If it doesn't work on either, that suggests a wiring or power issue

Does the 7I84 have field power?

Yes, it works on my other 7i76e properly. I guess there is something broken.
So i had the idea to add a second smart serial port on the 7i85 card. Is this  possible?

Not sure what you mean, the 7I85 and that firmware have 8 channels

7I76E 0,1
7I85 2..6
7I85S 7

Does the 7I85 have power? Do the 7I76E and 7I85 cable power jumpers match?

Note that older 7I76E firmware will not enable the 7I76E sserial port on newer
(> RevA ) 7I76E's

Also the 7I85 sserial ports have 8 pins instead of 6 (you plug a 6 pin connector in the middle of the 8 pin section)

Does CR8 (RS-422 power) illuminate on the 7I84?

I plug the socket one pin more and now the card will show. But linuxcnc not start.
config in hal is "sserial_port_0=202xxxxx"
Do i need to config some more?
