7i95t+7i83+7i84 no ping was created by Trav328
Figured this might be a more appropiate section to ask for some help rather than my build thread.

after some time zone issues i got 2.9 updated , i used mesact to make a super simple config to start with , but now im getting a watchdog error , error report attached . does this have anything to do with the wiring of my smart serial cards ?

Running debian 12 and linuxcnc 2.9 updated last night
7i95t has 5v from 5v2000ma switched dc power supply , 7i84 has 24v vin

hm2_7i95t.0.watchdog.timeout_ns' not found

Mesact will do a successful board check at ip 10.10.10.10 I can not ping 10.10.10.10 it gives me the error pictured below If I use the pictured command in mesa flash it gives a no ethernet board found.Ethernet setup was done following the guide on here.

The ping error may happen if a LinuxCNC session did not exit properly.
(so access to10.10.10.10 is blocked)

This can be fixed with:

halrun -U

The watchdog error is most likely a mesact  bug
(maybe fixable by updating to the latest version)

The hal card name will just be 7i95, not 7i95t

Ok , so any references to the card in the hal file should just be 7i95 ?

I will try the halrun-u this evening

Yes, any references to the card should be just 7I95
(This is so 7I95 halfiles will work with the 7I95T)

If LinuxCNC does not terminate properly, you can remove
any loaded drivers etc with:

halrun -U

Updating mesact took care of the watchdog issue , realizing my ethernet cables were wired 568a instead of b took me a bit of time , but now it's all connected and avilable in halshow , thanks for the help.

But for whatever reason i still can not ping this card , not that it seems to be an issue right now but still very odd.

Yes, the ping thing is odd, sounds like a bug with ping or the OS.

I really think Mesa should show the pinouts/colours for both 568a and 568b. I got caught too and I found it a bit tricky to draw up the correct pinout. Maybe different countries standardise on differen wiring schemes.

I'm thinking it's a regional thing , the cables I used I had someone make up for some poe security cameras I used to have and they were done 568a , I had a different friend make up some cables and he also went to 568a , he said thats what he does every day.

I suppose if you are not cutting the cable it wouldent matter as long as the ends matched.

I gotta say tho , once I had it all figured out its amazing how slick these cards work , i got the amps and encoders wired in this morning and was playing around in halshow enabling the amps and moving things around , have to do all my scaling and start working on the hal file so it knows to use the 7i83 outputs next.
