I am in the process of setting up some additional expansion on my machine and have run into an issue. I have added a 7i74 and 2 7i84's to my machine and can't get the second 7i84 to show up. I am running the 7i96s_7i74 firmware. My guess is that it has to do with the serial address on the second 7i84? The 7i74 only shows up as a single serial channel so I bet that means that each device plugged into it needs a different address. Is this correct? If so, how do I change the address on the second 7i84? Is this what the field I/O parameters section in the manual is about?

Have you installed 7i96s_7i74d.bin firmware on the 7I96s?

Note that all sserial channels on the 7I74 are port 1 rather than port 0

Yes I have. I am also using port 1. The line in my hal is this:

loadrt hm2_eth board_ip="10.10.10.10" config="num_encoders=1 num_pwmgens=1 num_stepgens=5 sserial_port_1=1xxxxxxx"

loadrt hm2_eth board_ip="10.10.10.10" config="num_encoders=1 num_pwmgens=1 num_stepgens=5 sserial_port_1=1xxxxxxx"

Would only enable sserial channel 0 on the 7I74
