Diffrence Mesa 7I96 - 7I96S ? was created by Holzwurm56
Hello, Does anyone know what the difference is between the Mesa 7I96 and 7I96S? Does Lcnc also work with the Mesa 7I96?
Kind regards
Hans

7i96 did not have VFD spindle control but does have spindle encoder inputs, 6 high current outputs, the rest is the same.
7i96S has VFD spindle control, spindle encoder inputs, 4 high current outputs and 2 lower current but high isolation outputs.
And yes, both work with LinuxCNC, but you can not buy new 7i96 anymore, 7i96S is usually available.

7i96S = better

Another difference is that the 7I96S has a bigger FPGA
This only makes a difference with fairly exotic configurations
(>12 stepgens etc)
We will have the plain 7I96 available again in 6 weeks or so
