Can MESA work without LinuxCNC? was created by lkavan
Hallo,
I would like to ask if it is possible to use MESA cards without LinuxCNC? I am thinking to use it to control hydraulic plastic molding injection machine. I will need temperature control (PID + PWM), hydraulics speed control (PID + PWM), some timing, inputs, outputs etc. But, of course, I don't need XYZ positioning, G code, etc. from LinuxCNC. I think, I will need HAL and connect it to GUI.
Or is this wrong idea at beginning?

Yes, you can use HAL (with any hardware) without using LinuxCNCs
motion component.

Im looking into this as well, is there a clear cut way of running/interfacing HAL with a custom software?

I guess the real question is how to separate HAL from linuxcnc.

I am using hal only with a mesa card to control a monarch lathe spindle. (so encoder, 2 analog drives and some i/o)

Works great.

Hey thats pretty awesome. Love the monarch also!

Is that using HAl-Core?

Do you have a github? Im looking to do something similar to this but with a custom GUI.
