MesaTool2, 7i96S and BOB (HW-356)

I have firmware for a 7i96S+BOB setup.

PIN_7I96S_5ABOBRCD.vhd

With this firmware and MesaTool2 do I  select a P1 board type?  I don't see anything resembling a generic BOB.

I​​d you are trying to use a 7i96s with a bob you need to install the firmware first.

Go to the mesa website, your board, download the firmware files

The in console,
Sudo install mesflash (edited.. Thanks)
The see all the commands with mesaflash --help
If memory serves
Cd to your firmware
The the command is something like
Mesact flash -- ipaddr, --board, --firmware file

That'll get you the firmware flashed.

The use the hostmod command to see what pins you can call from hal file

Also note, 7I96S firmware files end in .bin
PIN_7I96S_5ABOBRCD.vhd is a source file,
not a complete firmware file

MesaCT can flash the firmware from the GUI.

Yes MesaCT (Mesa Configuration Tool).  I have the *.pin, *.bin, and *.vhd files for the7i96s_5abobrcd firmware.

So after flashing the 7i96S and connecting the BOB.  Will MesaCT recognize the BOB being connected?  Do I then need to assign the BOB to the P1 connector?

 

I'm not familiar with that software but yes set your pins in the p1 connector like it was the breakout board connecting to a parallel port.

E.g. step and direction for axis x on the bob is usually pins 2,3 on the parallel port (and the p1)
