7I96S With RS485 Servo Drivers was created by mindstormmaster1
Hey! I'm working to convert my mill from Mach3 and open loop steppers to LinuxCNC and AC Servo motors.
I would like to use the Mesa 7I96S card along with these motors and drivers.

From the Mesa manual, it looks like it should be possible to use these stepper drivers, but I wonder if someone could confirm that they will work together. There doesn't seem to be a ton of information about wiring the 7I96S. I mostly see examples where Step +/- and Dir +/- are used. However, that does not seem to be as common with modern servo motor drivers. Would a different card be easier to find documentation for?

For step/dir mode it's just:
Step+ --> Pulse+
Step- --> Pulse-
Dir+ --> Sign+
Dir- --> Sign-
Step+ --> Pulse+
Step- --> Pulse-
Dir+ --> Sign+
Dir- --> Sign-

So I just need a DB breakout cord and then I can wire it like that and the driver will automatically take care of everything else like making sure it made it to the correct position automatically?

Yes, you need the appropriate D connector for CN1
