(And some of the crimpers are fun - there is a little video of a 6-segment one here, though the 4-segment ones work better in cage clamps, I feel.

Maybe bootlace ferrules? Effective at stopping stray strands bridging between channels. While waiting I've got to find a better solution to using these fine wires from the sensors and pendant into the terminal blocks.

That's what I normally use but ones that are small enough for 28g wire are a little scarce around here.
I've got 100 26g on order but I don't like trying to double them over to make it large enough to crimp securely, seem to put a lot of faith in that spot where it comes out of the insulation
For now I'm seriously looking at trying this, actually seems to have a really good grip.. in theory it should have at least a decent electrical contact...

Look for a 0.25 or 0.34mm^2 ones. I found them on Amazon

I didn't know the smaller sizes were available either!

Ferrules come in smaller sizes than the 0.5mm^2 white one. That's what I normally use but ones that are small enough for 28g wire are a little scarce around here.

FWIW, I finally got back to working on this with the new 7i84 board and the ferrules I ordered.
I purchased two different ferrules but the one that seems to work best is a 0.14mm2 - 26-28g brown Digikey PN 288-1656-ND, manu-PN 1163014
These will go in and start over the insulation slightly (maybe where it's been necked down a little during stripping?) but crimps down tightly.
I do think I might all a drop of CA to the plastic end of the ferrule once the wire is in just to move the flex point away from where the bare wire is crimped and up to the insulated part
Back to wiring....
