This is for a hydefinition plasma table retrofit based on a Komatsu KCR-0951 that we've installed Hypertherm's Hydefinition HD3070/HPR torch, Sensor PHC, and Mitsubishi J3 servo drives that we are running in positioning mode (configured for a step/dir signal) using a Mesa 5i23/7i47/7i37TA combination. The pcnconf assigned x-axis to pin 1/3 (step/gen) and 13/15 step/gen. Now 1 and 3 ended up being the TX4 / TX5 which wired up and perform flawlessly. 13 and 15 however seem to be RX1 & RX7, which are inputs? and aren't generating the correct output signals as far as I can tell. I am probably missing something simple, but I can't seem to get the signals to output correctly for the y-axis.

Help please!

I increased the number of step_gen=4 from 3, which gave me an additional pin assigment to use TX10/TX11 for the 4th step gen axis. The middle two step gens are assigned to RX blocks though and worthless. It seems like there needs to be a firmware built that directly supports the 7i47 as there is no way that I can figure out to get all 4 step gens to run off that board without building a custom cable and wiring the signals where they should go.

Hello,

Are you using the .bit file for the 7i47?
That should put all the connections where they should be.

For a 5i20 with a 7i47s and a 7i37ta I use ...
loadrt hm2_pci config="firmware=hm2/5i20/7i47s.bit num_encoders=1 num_pwmgens=1 num_stepgens=4"

And follow the wiring for the 7i47s in my case.

For a plain 7I47 (not 7I47S) step configuration, the bit file would be named SVST2_4_7I47
This has 4 stepgens, 2 PWM/dir outputs and 4 encoders (with appropriate pin-out for the7I47)

BTW this bitfile may not be supported by pncconf, but you can just start with the hm2-stepper example HAL file and modify to suit your needs
