Can EMC2 be configured to run a machine that has been retro fitted with ajax CNC drivers?

What kind of input does the drive take and what kind of feedback does the machine have?

Can EMC2 be configured to run a machine that has been retro fitted with an ajax controller? From my experience the parallel port on the motherboard is the out\input for the motor drivers, however the machine i am currently thinking of installing emc2 on to run is set up with ajax controlls which actually plug into a card slot on the mother board.

the drive connects to the cnc controller with wires, however the cnc controller is a card that plugs into the motherboard just like a graphics card would

That's not much information to go on... do you have a link to the controller card? Is it a stepper system? Is the controller card plugged into an ISA slot or a PCI slot?

Anyway, if it plugs into the motherboard then you will need a driver. Whether that is easy or hard to write depends partly on the complexity of the system, and partly on how open the company is with their documentation.

It may be possible, but you would have to know the Ajax card's command structure and write a driver. Ajax/Centroid may not be willing to share the necessary information.
