I think that might technically be shallow pocketing lots of times in the same place :-)

Glad to see it worked, though.

You probably need some stronger hold-down clamps.

Hello Andy,

Sure, your comments make sense. For the clamps, I created them the first itme I wanted to test the machine and they are still in use ! Shame on me . . .

It isn't that surprising, he's cutting pretty slowly with fairly high rpms, in aluminum so loading is pretty small and wood does a decent job of dampening small vibrations. What is surprising is that he isn't smearing the aluminum more than he is. (bet tool life isn't all that great.)

Looks like he is making the best of what he has to work with.

Hello Tood,

You point it right. Slow speed generate slow forces and wood absorb a lot of vibrations so helps with small mill.

Regarding chips burning or welding, the air nose is not a standard one and comes for Kool mist ( Kool Mist )
It has the ability to drasticaly reduce the temperature of air blow with some small drops of coolant. So with a wooden machine, there is not a coolant flow that the machine can not appreciate but a real coolant effect. That's why it works pretty well for cooling.
There is also an other supplier than uses a vortex device to decrease air temperature about 15/20° (price is higher and I don't remember its name) so you can suppress any coolant but some testings have to be made before.
As I use Kool Mist an a daily basis, I trust it !
