Finally getting a spare moment in which I can breathe, and finally got around to actually ordering my 5i25/7i77 combo kit for the turning center conversion. Have the PC built and waiting for the Mesa cards, and have some AMC 25A20 amps on hand, so want to pull the trigger and purchase some DC brushed servo motors while I still have time to contemplate and do so... So, besides the Keling stuff, where else does one go to look for servo motors these days? Thanks.

Thanks for that, Andy. I appreciate it. Right now, it looks like the top contender is these - MOTORS with specs of :

KL34-170-72 (NEMA 34) Dual Shaft, Front Shaft 1/2",
Rear shaft 1/4", Skewed Rotor Design
850 oz-in Peak 72V/38A
Green is Ground, Red is +, Black is Common)
Constant Torque: 170 oz-in
Peak Torque: 850 oz-in
No load Speed: 4200 R.P.M
Terminal Voltage : 72 VDC
Continuous Current: 7.5 A
Peak Current: 38 A
Weight : 4.0 Kg
Skewed Rotor Design
Green is Ground, Red is +, Black is Common

And then adding these - ENCODERS

A: (1) CUI AMT102-V Encoder KIT:
•patented capacitive technology
•16 dip switch programmable resolutions
incremental output resolutions
48, 96, 100, 125, 192, 200, 250, 256, 384, 400,
500, 512, 800, 1000, 1024, 2048
•straight (radial) and right-angle (axial) versions
•9 different mounting hole options for AMT102
•low power consumption
•line driver output available (CUI-10XE-10)
•-40°C to 100°C operating temperature
•TTL voltage output
•modular package

Any thoughts or input?
While I have played with servos before this will be my first conversion/build utilizing them, so I know next to nothing.
( not so different than most anything else )

Two opinions here:

Very interesting. Thanks, Andy. Very appreciated. I know I can handle/solve the slippage issue but know not enough to know anything about the latency issue and if it will be of any concern to me. This is a fairly small envelope machine so my gut tells me that it should not be that large of an issue as it simply won't have opportunity ( room ) to get too awfully high in the speed zone... Plus, I don't really foresee wanting to push it THAT hard with such a small envelope. It's to be a machine used STRICTLY for onesy/twosey prototyping type parts. Hence, speed is not of the utmost concern. Or am I not understanding the concerns correctly?

EDIT - to be more clear - I don't see wanting to have immediate velocity/high acceleration and could live with something slightly less than "full out".
