Hi,
I'm starting to get together the parts to refit the small desktop Light Machines co. lathe and mill that I have. Living in Australia with 240V power means it is a little awquard to use the 115V American spindles; so as part of my refit I'm going to replace at least the motors.
My first question is: Should I replace the entire spindle and get a new(complete) set of collets of a known and standard size or should I just replace the motors.
My second question is: Can anyone recommend a brand/model of spindle/motor that is affordable but still good quality. I am looking to do work in metal and woof as well as possibly cutting PCB traces with the mill.
Cheers,
Rex

Is there much of a difference between an engraving spindle and any other type? There seem to be a lot of spindles that are labeled engraving in the price range I'm looking at.
Cheers,
Rex
EDIT: Is watercooling spindles common? Most of the spindles I have seen seem to be watercooled.
